Lago Lookout ("the site") is a community information dashboard operated independently and not affiliated with the City of Lago Vista, LVPOA, or any government entity. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the limited data we collect.

What We Collect

We collect minimal, anonymized analytics data to understand how the site is used. This includes:

  • Anonymized visitor identifier— Your IP address is cryptographically hashed (SHA-256) with a daily-rotating salt. The raw IP address is never stored. The hash changes every day, so it cannot be used to track you across days.
  • Page path— Which page you visited (e.g., "/burn-ban").
  • Visit date— The calendar date of your visit.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not use cookies or browser-based tracking.
  • We do not use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • We do not collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers.
  • We do not store raw IP addresses.
  • We do not require user accounts or login.
  • We do not run client-side tracking scripts.

How We Use the Data

Analytics data is used solely to understand aggregate traffic patterns, such as which pages are most visited and how many unique visitors the site receives. This helps us improve the site and prioritize features. Data is never sold, shared with third parties for marketing purposes, or used to identify individual visitors.

Data Retention

Anonymized analytics records are retained for up to 90 days and then automatically deleted. Because the visitor hash rotates daily, there is no way to correlate records across different days to a specific individual.
